The Association of Friends of the Autistic Person of Elpida Unit organized on May 13^th 2018 the 6th consecutive Mountain Struggle in the peri-urban forest of the Municipality of Oreokastro, gathering thousands of participants and numerous spectators. The Association in question was founded in 1997 to support financially and morally the nearly 50 autistic children in the School of the Autistic Disability Unit “Elpida”, located in Oraiokastro. It is a model unit in Northern Greece, which has been operating since 1978 as a legal entity under private law under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity. Due to the difficult economic conditions in Greece, health and social organizations face every day enormous challenges of survival and fulfillment of their constitutional goals. With consistency and belief that volunteerism is a great tool for cohesion and development, Condito offered clothing to all volunteers who worked and facilitated the charity race by turning it into a great feast of offering and supporting the "children" in need.
